Listening

What if there were no sounds, and everything we hear is not what we see. The mind or rather brain is playing a very vital or important part in our daily living, by connecting those tissues with the nerves and the soul that sees and the organs that hears all that is.

Curiosity is one thing that pushes me to write and compose. I believe that artists in general should be treated differently than normal people. Reason being, with this talent or gift I may say, to be able to create, transform, rearrange some of the greatest pieces in the world comes with a very high price e.g. No privacy; addiction; loneliness; abnormality, etc....

Now the world overlook all these parts and pieces that makes this person unique. when you are dinning with an artist for example, you see spoons, table, knifes, food and all that is there. You ears and minds are focused on this food and socializing as well.  On the other hand the artist is listening to the melody and the harmony of your voices and the rhythm of your co-ordination. then something new comes up in his/her head, whilst trying to be with you on the table as well. Some artist do not hear a thing but instead see everything differently then all of you on that table. well.. now it comes to the point that he has to chose to ignore what he sees or react on it immediately. I am back to my first line " what if were no sound? does it means all that I hear is not there. or all that is there is mute.

My first grade, that would be First year at school. Way back in the days. Mafukuzela Primary School. Section B uMlazi. I was the shortest amongst the whole school. We were so many kids as a result they divided us into two groups, one start in the morning at 7:30 - 11:30 and the others at 12:00 - 16:00. So this was very nice for us we would have 30 minutes to play and see our school mates before they go to class. I was a different kid from then, because everything my teacher would be teaching it would come to my ears as a melody or some rhythm. One time i was made to come in front of the whole school  and recite  "twinkle twinkle little star. " For me the only thing was to sing it, and so I did. Everybody laughed and I felt so embarrased and went home crying. Few week later I was made to join the school choir, not by choice anyway but yeh I did. I led the song that made us win the finals of the primary schools competition.

I still listen and hear sounds and rhythms till today. Two years ago I was called in by the teachers of my daughter 11 years old by then, to discus the missbehaving and disturbing other pupils in the classroom during the learning period. I flew all the way from Germany to Mzansi(South Africa)this white neigbouhood that my girl is attending. The area used to be whites only back in the days. Thank God for the so called freedom haaaa. So, I came in there they extended a very warm welcome to me and my wife., then presented their case. " Your daughter is not doing what we tell here to do most of the time.... She sometimes bust out in a song while we are busy studying. " I asked to see her results of her school work. They said it's not about that she is doing very well infact on top of the class. I said why am I hear then if she is doing well by her method of learni is the same as mine when I was of her age. They said they want to transfare her to another school.  That made me furious and I calm myself down and explained to them how I was. But at the end we had an understanding that people are not the same. Do not expect me to hear what you hear.

Take your time and listen as the day goes by, you will be suprised of what you can learn when you just give an ear and a smile.

Also keep up the Talent and make the best out of it, sage ich nur.
